“Come on Matilda! Let’s go to the next house!” gestured Lily enthusiastically, waving her bucket of candy in the air. They headed off to the next house to trick or treat although this house was particularly peculiar. The sky around it was a shade of grey, menacing crows circled the slanted roof tops and no one seemed to trick or treat there.
With trepidation, they crept cautiously up to the haunted house. As Matilda stretched out her hand to the ancient, carved doorknob, it flung ajar like a ghost had opened it. The pair stood petrified at the sight, yet a feeling was forcing them inside. As they leapt inside, the door slammed shut rapidly and the lock clicked.
Lily was getting an exciting thrill about the house, although Matilda wasn’t. Her legs shook like jelly and she started to bite her bottom lip, but Lily suggested to keep travelling down the corridor. As they went further, the gloomy corridor kept getting narrower and narrower until suddenly they came to a holt at the shadow of a figure.
He leaned over them and soon enough Matilda had come eye to eye with the man. Then she saw his full appearance. His eyes were like snake’s eyes, his breath was as cold as ice and his silky, black cloak smelt like rotten flesh. His long, wrinkly arm reached out of the cloak to signal the girls to sit at a rusty, circular table.
They followed along as if something was shoving them further. Lily and Matilda sat down silently until a gleeful voice burst into the air, “Congratulations! You have conquered my haunted house! Here you go, have all of this scrumptious candy!” He handed them kilograms of sugary treats, “If you want, you can leave now! Thank you for entering the haunted house!”
They left the horror house with buckets of sweets and were overjoyed that they conquered the spooky, haunted house. Together, they thought that a little trick was a huge amount of fun!
