A Terrible Death

She took her last breath
As I grew older
And I witnessed her death
But I stood colder.
I never thought of this day
To come
And I wished that she could stay
Still I stood very glum.
Desperate for hope
Feeling only heartbreak
Wanting to cope
With this terrible mistake.
I never understood what changed
Yet I only felt confused
And I didn’t notice that I obtained
A mental wound.
