She And He - Should

She should not have to hide away, just because her boyfriend hits her,
He should not cower in a corner when his girlfriend walks in the room,
She should not have to choose out of her friends or boyfriend on who she prefers,
He should not have to feel doom and gloom,
She should not have to face this alone,
He should not have to keep this a secret from others,
She should be sitting on a golden throne,
He should be hanging with his brother,
She should have a smile on her face,
He should be enjoying life,
She shouldn’t be hiding bruises, instead should be wearing lace,
He should be hanging with mates, not pinned with his throat to a knife,
But it seems impossible because what can they do,
they are all alone, made to keep their mouths and to sing the blues,
However, there is one thing we all can do to make their day,
and that is to ask if they are okay and offer a safe place to stay.
