I Dont Love Like You

I don't love like you
I am like honey, stolen and sticky,
thick and sweet,
I can drown the essence of most anything
in my longing, for belonging.
and I know you, you will think you want more,
because I carry sunlight.
but like anything sugary, too much is exactly that, too much, and you will run.
and all the holes I made in me to make room for you,
will bleed till there is no more honey left in me.
and I remember, how my mother said,
trust your instincts,
there are boys who will take the very last drop
and leave.
And I remember how that never much mattered to me,
because It was just too painful to keep so much love in me.
