All was silent in Darwin's streets,
Except the soft tolling of a bell.
All was peaceful,calm and quiet,
When the first bombs fell,
Terror reigned the seas and skies,
And fear filled the people's lives.
Fateful and fast.
With clean precision.
Those hated weapons
Destroyed this city's great vision
Startled soldier rushed to action
Their valiant hopes soon dashed
As bright explosions flashed.
Soon the roar died away
But that had been destroyed,
Could not be repaired
And Darwin was never the same,
Since that dreadful rampage.
