Puppy Surprise

A bark of joy lit up my room as I shot out of my bed to see what it was.

The barking got louder as I got closer towards the front gate.

I was an Olympic sprinter racing down the tracks to see my new puppy.

The door broke open like an FBI movie on a budget.

I was so close to the gate until the smell of disappointment filled the air

Around me. I saw someone walking a dog that was barking at the easily

terrified cat next door. The disappointment turned into despair fast.

My parents yelled from the balcony to come up stairs for a surprise.

I slowly dragged me and my disappointment up the infinite, dreaded

staircase. My family all surprised me with sweet, delicious mickey mouse

pancakes. Instead of looking happy I looked like the hulk with nothing to

smash. I was excited to see my grandparents but the whiny look on my

face made it look like I hated everything on my birthday until my parents
said that we were going to visit an animal shelter and maybe get a dog.

The joy on my face made it look like I finally tasted a rainbow… I had

annoyed my parents for 30 minutes straight asking when we were going

or what kind of dog and wouldn’t be silent for one second, I was like a

dog who saw a squirrel. My parents wanted to wait for my grandparents

but I finally broke my parents and I sprinted to the car with my family

uneagerly following… When we got there I was still as a mouse getting

chased by a cat. I was told to sit and wait while my parents went and

looked for the dogs but they were invisible. Nothing was seen and the

dog area was empty. What had happened? All I could go off was

the disappointed look on my parents faces as they looked at me…

The drive home was quiet and depressing. I stared out the window

Imagining what the adorable puppy would look like. When we got home I

Saw my grandparents and then I heard a mysterious noise bringing
joy to my birthday once again. Woof! The sound came closer as a small

light yellow puppy came sprinting at me. The next words I heard were

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
