A Boy Named Owen
Sally Rose, Grade 4, Wallerawang Public School
This weird and wacky poem,
Is about a boy named Owen.
He lived just down the street
And everyone thought he was a freak.
He had thick glasses and red hair,
His freckles made everyone stare.
He met a scary bully at school
Who teased him, trying to act real cool.
But little Owen let it go-
He knew fighting wasn’t the way to go.
Then one day the bully sat sad and alone
He was struggling at school and wanted to go home.
So Owen sat next to the boy in class,
The bully was dumb, but Owen helped him pass.
They became best friends and school was great.
Owen found out that kindness was better than hate.
