Fool's Gold

Midas sat in his study, counting his money,
The coins rushing through his hands like a honey.
But gold that had given him fizzy pleasure,
Would soon turn, to change his opinion forever.

One day, Dionysus came to visit,
And left behind a tiny spirit,
When Midas returned it, a gift he was sold,
That all that he touched would turn into gold.

But when he hugged his beautiful child,
She turned straight away into gold, an exile.
Midas searched in terror for a cure,
But his result were themselves, ironically, poor.

So Dionysus told Midas to wash both his palms,
And rinse all away his golden attachments.
And on returning home he found,
His daughter making living sounds!
