Finalist in the 'Inspired 2019' competition
In gold-dusted cornfields, black birds are cawing,
Day-wearied farm dogs are panting and pawing,
The copper filled sky is a harbour for day,
But when night creeps behind
The light fades away
And with the day falling
The bringing’s of night
Soar through the air, like a bird taking flight,
The chitter of bats, the hooting of owls
The ominous cry of the night hunters’ howls
Everything rests; or so it seems.
While the day creatures sleep, but are awake in their dreams.
