Excellence Award in the 'Inspired 2019' competition
A tear stained face and smudges of dirt
Dressed in rags looking saw and hurt.
Lying in a gutter with no place to call home
Remembering better days and feeling alone.
You scramble for a scrap of food but it just makes you feel more starved
You think back on your life, it seems like it’s been halved.
Where there once was joy and hope is now a place of sorrow
You build a pit of sadness and within it you wallow.
All alone in the world it's hard to remember what to forget
The only thing you remember now is what you regret!
