Flame

Finalist in the 'Inspired 2019' competition

Wanting revenge and going to get it,
The fire broke free, it was going to make it.
Pulling down trees it picked up its pace,
Leaving behind its black and burned trace.
Some beautiful thoroughbreds, both mighty and strong,
Had taken the path that turned out quite wrong.
They whinnied and neighed, they turned and they ran,
But oh that evil fire, how it laughed and it sang.
“What I am doing, it’s really so fun,
I will not stop until the job is done.
I don’t care if you scream, I don’t care if you shout.
I will burn down every tree, every sprout!”
The fire boomed on, proving its power,
And missed the dark clouds that were sure to shower.
The clouds started spitting, water filled the sky.
The fire started singeing, and lay down to die.
