For as far as I can remember,
I always liked the month September.
This is the month I struck it rich
as it shone bright yellow covered by mud in the roadside ditch.
I took a closer look
and just before I picked it up I saw my friend and he pulled out an all about metal book.
My heart was racing, my friend was pacing,
as I crouched down to pick it up I felt all nervous inside.
I shot a hand out and grabbed hold
of something special which looked like gold.
Dan and I were jumping around with joy,
I hoped it wasn’t a prank or a toy.
It felt heavy and it felt real
so I knew I’d be rich and make any deal.
We discovered later that gold is easy to twist and turn,
but no matter how hard you try, it will never burn.
