My Dragon Friend

Steam rises from outside of my window
What an extraordinary sight
I look outside into the darkness
and the sight of a dragon gives me fright!
Maybe it is a loyal friend
I wonder if it wants to play
or it could be a sneaky foe
that'll eat me up one day
Suddenly the dragon winks
and opens its heart to me
within seconds we are best friends
like the sand and sea
a few weeks go by
no scales, no fire, no steam in sight
sadness takes over my heart
with tears dropping, I feel lonely through the night
As stars go up the next night
I see a glint in the sky
is there the steam in the distance
my heart goes racing as my hopes go high
