Take A Closer Look

I step out into my garden, my forest, my home, weaving between the trees, the silence, echoes
Here, all my worries disappear, into the deep forest, my home
The gums, reaching towards the sky, remind me of my long, lanky legs,
they carry me from here to there, into the deep forest, my home
Empty, empty, I look all around, the breeze between the leaves, the sound of the sea, is all that there seems to be
I call, Is there anybody out there? In the deep forest, my home
Quiet, left with no reply, I sink to my knees, where my skirt is covered in dirt and ferns of lush green surround me, dew fresh on leaves
Still, there is no one, nothing, until I observe, the deep forest, my home
Life, life in all its forms
A butterfly; delicate, perched upon an orchid, beauty, untouched
An ant, carrying one of the fallen, stumbles and falls under its weight, the weight of loss, still, it continues on
Gold, orange, pink and green, Christmas on its wings, the beetle crawls away, to places unseen
A wren, who I long to be as free, hops to and fro, among the foliage; among the trees
His wings, as blue as day, are soft, yet fragile, like my heart, it warms at the sight
Is there anybody out there? I now know, to take a closer look,
In the deep forest, my home.
