Finalist in the 'Inspired 2019' competition
Brittle papyrus enforced with strength,
beneath a trembling hand,
Stories of exquisite worlds that dripped,
with ideas glorious and grand.
Words of wonder laced in awe,
and shaped with leather hands,
pages bound together for
the brightest of all the lands.
Years came and centuries passed,
As the narrative began to fade,
stored in a place to wither and crumble,
damaged and decayed.
I watched charcoal letters form tales,
I watched them slowly sink,
as the world steadily changed outside,
the words remained in ink.
