Sink

She gazed across the ocean
And reached out her hand in vain.
For her destination
Was a thousand miles away.

And though she could not see it,
She had faith that it was there.
So she set out on a boat
Built on hopes and built with care.

But the further that she travelled,
The thinner her hope spread.
And the boat began to sink,
And the doubt sunk in her head.

And maybe she would have made it,
If she fought to not give in.
For how will we get anywhere,
If we sink instead of swim?
