As I look upon the rubbish covered land,
I remember the meadow, once beautiful and grand
As I look upon the place I now rely on to survive
I see broken glass and plastic that I sell to stay alive
As the familiar scent of pollution drowns me
The suffering of my family is all that I can see
As the heaviness in the air drags down our hope of surviving,
I wish there would one day be a time where we all could be thriving
As the moon rises each day,
The monsters in the shadows come out to play
As the rays of the sun chase away what we fear
Those who awaken can finally cheer
As many years come and go
So do others I have gotten to know
Many years will have gone
Until some won't ever see their next dawn.
