Excellence Award in the 'The Inside Story 2020' competition

As she sniffs the cold night air,
her locked on a deadly stare,
as she quietly stalks her prey,
well before the break of day,
she makes a move beggining the chase,
her sisters lay at the ambush place,
spooked and frightened run the deer,
the young and the sick feel the fear,
now all the wolves are in the chase,
soon a sick deer drops its pace,
it gives up without a friend,
knowing he's about to meet his end,
as she sniffs the early morning air,
she carefully grooms her thick grey hair,
satisfied knowing her family are fed,
she crosses her paws and rests her head.
