Finalist in the 'The Inside Story 2020' competition
She had a light in her eyes,
that shone so bright the moon was in awe.
She had a twinkle in her eyes,
that sparkled so intensely the sun envied her.
She had magic in her eyes,
that even the stars desired.
This childlike wonder,
this beauty she had,
the innocence she radiated,
was robbed from her.
Not by the wistful moon, or the envious sun or even by the stars, so full of yearning,
but by her own constant need for understanding,
which she never found,
and quite possibly,
never will.
