“Are you sure that you've got everything?” Nike's mum asked. “Yes mum! I’ve checked like 10 times already! Bye!” Nike replied. His mother double-checked his backpack just in case he forgot something. After a few seconds, he was already out and on the way to school. He smelled thick smoke as if someone was having a barbecue and he walked some more to get a closer look on the way.
After he passed a few blocks, Nike saw black hazy gas floating out of a window from one of the buildings. Suddenly, his whole body stopped functioning; he was so shocked that he froze like ice. He blinked several times to make sure he wasn’t dreaming, before he finally realised that it was in reality. After a second of mind blank, he began to run home to tell his mom about it.
As soon as he got home he told his mom about the fire however, his mother thought he was making up an excuse for not going to school, after a few minutes of convincing, she gave in and phoned the school to check if there was actually a fire. The school told them it was a false alarm because one of the senior classes was conducting a science experiment that had gone wrong that Nike didn’t know about so he went to school in his mother’s car.
Nike figured out a new way to remember things such as writing it out on a piece of paper and putting it on the wall in case you forget about it.
