Do you think they knew?
When the dinosaurs saw a new star in the sky
Brighter than the sun
Do you think they knew they were going to die?

Do you think they knew?
When people heard the bang of Krakatoa as it echoed around the world
Saw the great walls of water approaching
Do you think they knew their lives would soon be washed to sea?

Do you think they knew?
Innocent people of Hiroshima; Nagasaki
When the planes flew high and fast
Do you think they knew their world would be blown to pieces?

Do you think we'll know?
When our time on Earth is over
Have we learnt from the past?
Or will the city lights blind us, the illusion of our safety leave us to stumble into oblivion?
