Succumbing Sadness

A single whisper across the room
Leaves Elsie feeling quite the gloom
Don’t let it get to you they used to say
Now she just takes it day by day

A world of wonder, a wonder to explore
How am I supposed to, if I can’t even get out the door?
The build-up of emotions leaves quite the mark
Now Elsie feels all alone in the dark

The light at the end of the tunnel
But all she can see is the sinister rubble
She needs to get her head back in the game
Yet all she can feel is a heavy pain

With time comes strength, through will comes defence
She will no longer bear the consequence
Now the whispers make her shine and beam
There is nothing in the world she can’t achieve
