Sometimes
Blushing champagne pink
The walls of the box
Rose petals and soft cheeks
Close in, loom over me
Sometimes
Neon plastic sweetness
‘Sit like a lady’
Fairy floss sickly smile
‘But you used to love that dress’
Sometimes
Gently twisting coral
There’s comfort in a closed lid
Bubblegum burst and shrink
Safety in misery
I build my prison for them
