Lest We Forget

The wind blows through empty streets,
The only thing visible are silhouettes,
Of people holding a candle to the dawn,
And saying ‘lest we forget’,

We remember the soldier’s sacrifices,
Protecting their home from threats,
Fighting for their beloved country,
We say ‘lest we forget’,

A service held not through crowds,
From rooftops and balconies instead,
United in our goal to remember,
People say ‘lest we forget’,

A nation hiding behind closed doors,
Remembering when enemies met,
Holding a candle to the morning,
Together we say ‘lest we forget’.
