A Broken Refugee's Beautiful Blemishes

Refugees, their fragile strength blooms,
Blemishes in their hearts, minds and souls,
They endeavour to hide.
Yet they remain, screaming silently;
Tragic events, joyful loss; that divides in two:
One half, their past,
Concealed, restrained.
The other, a new home; forced to obtain.
Bringing colour to our lives, diversity;
Beautiful fractures from their traumatic journey,
A sense of identity.
Community’s a jigsaw; puzzle pieces, you and me,
We, a whole, perfection, love.
Almost.
One piece missing;
Refugee, welcome in.
