Water, roiling, cold and clear
In the field, a flash of rabbit’s ear
Blades of grass grown in rich sod
By faerie feet alone are trod.
The sun’s descent brings forth dark night
As glowing stars reflect soft light
And as the breeze sighs through the evening
The fae folk come to make their gleaning.
Across valleys, forests, hills and plains-
Through fierce strong winds or icy rains-
They float amongst the branches and sedges,
Rest in their journey on small mossy ledges,
Until at last they find their goals:
All tired, ailing human souls.
For the fae by day bring pranks and spite
But take the weary to find their rest at night.
