Left Standing Alone

Walking under the trees,
Leaves swaying with the wind,
Words were never spoken,
A silence taking over.
Every day was a repeat,
Nothing ever changed,
The feeling of emptiness,
Growing larger every day.
Should I still hang on?
Go down the path that leads to nothing,
Trying to get acknowledgment from one who cannot give,
Going through a cycle, where I get hurt in the end.
But I watch in despair, as they cut the string,
The string that connects me to them,
I’m left by myself, in a ward of darkness
I’m left there, standing alone.
