The gun?res roared,
As victory was lured.
However, they were too slow.
The men shouted,
As horses were mounted.
To escape the fate of loss.
But though they were fast,
Their victory did not last.
As the bullets shot through their hearts.
Till this day,
They all lay,
In the tombstones surrounded by poppies.
Forever, we will remember them.
