In The Spotlight

You were an angel,
Shining in the world.
You watched me from the shadows
And onstage I twirled.
And from the corner of my eyes
That halo turned to horns.
And on your head,
Was a crown of thorns.
As I danced my heart away,
My mind drifted back to that letter
That revealed the truth of our friendship.
I should have known better.
But I will continue dancing
In the darkest time of night,
Surrounded by your lies.
Dancing in the spotlight.
