Every Little Reason

Yesterday I was asked for my reasons,
but I couldn’t think of any.
Truly the sky won’t fall, the world won’t freeze.
But most of all I deeply don’t believe anyone would miss me,
and that scares me.
So I made a list, no matter how small.
I want to graduate and finally become something.
I want to drive into the sunset with the roof down.
I want to swim in the ocean with no strings attached.
I want to fall asleep on the sand and wake up with the stars.
I want to fall in love and be kissed in the rain.
But no matter how little, I truly want to see tomorrow.
I want to watch the sun come up, and witness as it sets.
So I’ll try, I’ll try, to keep breathing, no matter the pain.
I’ll keep surviving and I promise to fight,
for every little reason.
