I dreamed of days drenched in butternut sunshine.
Mornings of happily ever afters for all of eternity
With a changing heart that beat for promised happiness.
When I finally opened my eyes
It lingered...
through the lives of those who journey towards happiness,
Our beginnings of butterflies and milky bread.
Of days filled with smiles that never understood pain instead dreaming of a bigger world where we could be anything we wanted.
Drowning our minds with the knowledge we imagined
whilst thinking empty thoughts to give us space to breathe.
Complicating our simple worlds
with knotted strings and frayed memories,
trying to unravel ourselves only
to run further away from the finish line
into a cracked world which we once could glue back together with icing and sprinkles
