As I sojourn in sun kissed plains
Absorbing the pleasure of my evanescent days
Hands outstretch, baffled by my beauty
And I realise my time has come.
Abiding at your bedside
As your faithful, loving companion
You wither along with me
As the beauty of life fades away.
Pink fulfils her duty
And scarlet arrives to journey through melancholy
Veiling joy with immense sorrow
Misery superseding the joy of the morrow.
A granite structure becomes her comrade
As she lodges in the face of the earth
Till the drought comes
And she withers away.
