2021
I wait at the gate for him to return,
I know it won’t be soon but I stay.
It feels like I have heartburn,
I cannot wait to see you on my birthday.
I understand he has to go,
I know why he has to stay away.
The closed borders are like a deathblow,
My broken soul on display.
We will laugh and play outside all day,
Tears will flow and we will hug.
Santa will be here with his sleigh,
When I see you again.
