In summer, leaves leak out joy and optimism, filling the city like ink in a pen,
Blessedly spreading quicker than a pandemic,
Giving umbrellas of shade,
To read a book or play under,
Or simply to find solace from the madness and havoc that surrounds,
Even perhaps friends that will just listen,
In autumn, the leaves dance to the ground,
Providing confetti to throw in the air,
Paradoxically foreboding,
In winter the unembellished trees seem like half-finished paintings,
They look melancholy and glum,
Yet stoic and determined,
In spring, the trees regrow their ornaments spreading messages of hope,
And reminders that the year is concluding,
Like alarm clocks,
But silent reminders…
