Springtime Of Life

Like all do, I stumble and trip and fall; feigning strength, acting tough
Flawlessly kept shrubs and arrangements shape a path only I can see
My words aren’t pretentious, simply not enough
To describe this rose tinted world surrounding me
Marigolds, chrysanthemums, azalea, roses, by far it’s
A view that can only be coveted by painters and artists
The hard worked hands tending the scene, unseen, unappreciated
After all this time I’m glad to finally be able to appreciate it
Why be slowed by small thorns prodding at my knees?
Instead I wish to remain entranced by these colourful, flowering seas
High in the bright blue sky, the sun smiles its contagious smile
If only granted a single wish, I’d want to stay like this a while
I would meander in my garden senselessly
Alas, wisps of white that had once been on the horizon thunder restlessly
Soon enough, my hands became the ones tending the scene
So that, as was done for me, I may help a child dream
note from the author:
The poem’s title, springtime of life, is intended to set the scene as a person’s youth & childhood. With this poem I wanted to express an optimistic view on growing up.
