Majestic, wild and untamed
Intelligent as they are brave,
Fast, nimble with the ability to entrance
Their gallop across the wild outback mesmerising like a choreographed dance
As the heard moves and breaths as one,
Matted manes and tangled tails, their beauty lies beneath
Eyes of kindness and gentle of spirit
Ambling from watering hole to watering hole,
The stallion, majestic in his role, protects the foals,
Danger is signalled by the mist of sandy soil
Predators are never sole,
as the heard breaks into gallop towards the horizon
all that is left is hoof prints of old, where have they gone
that is the wonder!
