The Flood

A city lies on plains, noisy and busy,
Sound can be heard in every place and building
Billions of droplets suddenly fall to earth,
Rain is drought, its damage outstanding.
The river overflows, water breaking its banks,
Plants ripped from the ground, fragile and frail.
Roads inundated from torrential rain,
Trouble near the wharf, a boat with a ripped sail.
People run for shelter,
Water chases them as they go.
Everyone protects themselves, with anything they can find,
An umbrella on a kayak, a man decides to row.
A city lies on plains, flooded with water,
Deep water seen with horror and fear.
Gentle rays of sunlight pass through the clouds,
Working together to make the water disappear.
