‘Incoming call from the Agency’ bleeped the pager.
“Not again!” moaned Camille the cat. The message said ‘News - every animal is going to turn into a dog. You’ve got 24 hours. Good Luck Agent 001.’ “Where to start?” pondered Camille as she ran out of her mansion.
“Burp, oops, sorry!” said Gus, the mouse, apologetically. “Oi, wait up, I might know someone who can help.”
“How do you know I need help?” Camille asked.
“I’m a mouse, I hear everything in houses.” he said cheekily. “Follow me.” he said. “We’re here.”
“Oh hi” greeted Belinda.
“I’ve got a friend here who needs your help” Gus uttered.
“Sure, what can I do?” she asked enthusiastically.
“I would like you to fly high then tell me if you see anything out of the ordinary.” Camille replied.
“Okay, sure!” Belinda shouted as she soared up.
Camille checked her pager. It bleeped ‘6 hours left’.
“I have some news!” Belinda screeched as she returned.
“What’s the news?” Camille asked.
“It looks a bit edgy at the dump.”
“Great work! Let’s go!” Camille declared. As they got closer, the stink became unbearable. It smelled like rotten fish and wet fur. As Camille inhaled, the stench filled her lungs like it was sucking all the air out of her. It really was not an appealing sight either. “Ooh!” exclaimed Gus as he scampered to a mouldy old apple core.
“Gus, stay on task!” Camilla hissed.
“Oh alright!” Gus said reluctantly.
“Great” Camille moaned as she looked around and found nothing unusual. “You’ve led us to a dead end!” she shouted. All of a sudden, an elevator popped up.
“Quick! Get in!” Camille beckoned Gus and Belinda inside. “I’m sorry.” Camille whispered.
“It’s okay.” they both replied. When they stepped out of the elevator they were struck with disbelief. They had had found a secret lab!
“We need to be stealthy.” Camille said quietly.
“You’re too late! In a few minutes every animal will be turned into a dog!” Rufus said smugly. Who would have thought they had found Rufus, the greatest villain of all times and his secret lair. “As you can see, the Obliterator 2000 is ready to shoot!” Rufus said maniacally.
“You distract him Belinda, whilst you, Gus, turn off the Obliterator on my signal. Let’s go!” Camille commanded.
“Tell me why you want to do this?” Belinda enquired.
“Well, when I was young, my family got a kitten and I felt like no-one was paying attention to me anymore so I ran away.” Rufus said distracted.
“Now!” Camille signalled. ‘Brrmmmm’ went the machine as it powered off.
“Wait! Don’t get angry,” Camille said urgently “think about if you got turned into a goldfish!” Rufus shook his head. “I wouldn’t like it very much either” said Camille. “So think of everyone else who could have been turned into a dog” Camille said gently.
“I’m sorry, will you still like me?” Rufus pleaded.
“Sure” they replied. Even a villain could be sorry and forgiven.
