The moon has loved 1000 times,
With 1000 years for the 1001st.
It loved not the earth nor the bright shining stars,
Or the wide ocean’s reflection of the big blue sky.
It wasn't the fields of silver lit flowers,
Or orchards of vibrant grassland fern.
Not the mountain ranges or white stone castles,
Nor the tiny little cottage with forest all ‘round.
Not the rabbits playing hide and seek,
Or the resting wildcats in their sleep.
Instead, it loved the mortal child,
And wept when their days had passed,
But the moon has 1000 years for the 1002nd,
And 1000 years for the next.
