In the shade of the big umbrella, Alfie watched the sea gently swaying this way and that,
sending surfers gliding over the rippling water, catching waves.
Swish, swoosh, swish, swoosh, sings the sea.
Alfie runs out, his paws leaving distinct marks of his trail.
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter, he trots along happily.
Bigger waves from far away wash the tide in.
Whoosh, whoosh, the water choruses
The sand is hot under Alfie’s paws, and he is getting a little tired. It was a big walk for a little puppy.
He gets nearer and nearer to the water, and the sand gets cooler and cooler.
He finally takes his first step into the sea…
Cool, refreshing, beautiful, splashing water.
Suddenly, a huge wave, the height of a mountain, starts crashing down.
Crash! Splash! The waves roar. Alfie yelps, and runs to the edge of the water but…
Sssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… Sssssssssshhhhhh the wave has swept out to the edge, gently tickling Alfie’s heels.
Alfie runs back to the water with his owners.
Splish, splash, splish, splash sings the sea.
