Spin me a tale, she said.
A tale where the sun shines
Without leaching life from
The soils and the earth.
Spin me a tale where
There is only summer rain,
Warm droplets on skin instead of
Twenty thousand leagues over land.
For what potential is there for a story after the tragedy?
So I spun a tale.
Veins of glimmering truths woven
Between golden strands of sunlight.
Storylines with sunshine and summer rains,
A place where scorched soils and flooded plains
Where spoken of only in fairytales,
The happiest place we could never reach.
