A brand new year, a brand new day
Turning over to a brand new page
Though it’s stained with ink and tears
From the torment of last year
For every friend who stayed by my side
There’s a million broken promises and lies
But as the clock ticks round on New Years Eve
I’ll write down goals that I’ll never achieve
I beg the old year to not let go of my hand
As moments slip through my fingers like sand
As I’m weighed down with unfulfilled wishes and sorrows
Knowing it will continue all again tomorrow
So I’ll pretend that this year, I’ll get the glory
As I start a new chapter of the same old story
As I start a new round of the same old game
It’s a new year, but I’m still the same.
