Painful distance running

I’m running on the track that’s green and wet with grass,
And dunno if my legs or arms or back is most worn out;
I’ve got no energy left to win so I just keep my pace,
I’m too tired to sprint to the end and win the race,
So I give up and lose my lead, for now - anyway.
I hear cheering of my name and that of other runners.
I gain confidence and sprint to the end.
I finished first,and end up fainting with joy.
