New owners, old house,
Another lick of paint on the walls.
What once was wood then blue then pink then green,
Is now a bright and sunny golden yellow.
New owners, old house,
Different furniture and pictures on the walls.
Gravel is laid where the grass and plants were green,
And statues cover the daisies that bloomed yellow.
New owners, old house,
Baby putting sticky hands on clean walls.
Mothers talking about fashion, whether pink is the “new” green,
Dads laughing, knocking their beer, liquid, amber yellow.
Old house, new owners,
Memories that these walls will forever hold.
Form the open fields of green that once surrounded it,
To the yellow sun, now blocked by buildings.
