A girl walking

A girl walks down the moonlit sidewalk;
a dog's leash hangs limply in her hand.
She lulls out sounds,
too quiet for anyone to hear but herself.
The lines twist like vines
growing towards the sky.
The verses converge and diverge
and braid themselves into an intricate pattern of sound and silence.
Words bloom like flowers with many petals and colors.
But, in time, all things must die.
Without a page to stick to,
without a pen to write it,
the song fades away into the sky like smoke.
And the girl keeps walking
with a dog's leash hanging limply by her side.
