In fall
Trees, brilliant with shades of red and gold,
Paint the rolling hills with their flaming colors,
Colors spun together in beautiful patterns.
Vast fields, brown with the coming of winter,
Stretch on and on without end
Under the autumn sky.
A gentle breeze catches a drifting leaf
And carries it to the horizon.
As autumn turns to winter
The colors fade, hills no longer radiant
Now are bare and empty
Waiting for the coming of spring.
