I woke up this morning and looked at the sky,
Saw the wind and the rain then gave a deep sigh.
I wanted to stay in my nice, warm bed.
But Mum came in and said “Up you sleepy head.”
“Oh, no” I said, “I want to sleep some more”
But then I heard my sister’s footsteps walking on the floor.
I raced to beat her to the shower because I knew she’d take
An hour.
I got dressed very fast and then came to breakfast, at last.
I had toast and a drink and then cleaned my teeth at the sink.
Packed my bag and ran to the car through the rain,
It was icy, I could not take the pain.
But I made it to school on that cold winter’s day,
The classroom was so warm that everybody wanted to stay.
