The last of shattered memories
The shimmer of a knife
The pieces of my broken heart
The fragments of your life

I’ll always think of you, buddy
Not with pity, but with love
And I know God’s taking care of you
With angels from above

I always knew how sad you were
And how bruised that you could be, and
The remains of your battered heart
Are locked inside of me

I still feel the pain and sorrow
Of when you used to cry
And the hardest thing I had to learn
Was how to say goodbye
