I smile, I laugh, I joke around,
But all of it’s not real.
The pain, the grief, the loneliness,
Is what I really feel.

Of all my friends, of all my peers,
Not one of them can see,
The feelings buried deep within,
That are trapped inside of me.

They think I’m fine and that I’m okay,
But they were oh, so wrong.
If they looked closer they would see,
How I’ve suffered for so long.

Beneath my smiles, beyond my laughs,
Look in my eyes and you’ll know.
About how I really feel inside,
The emptiness will show.
