The Day You Died

2nd in the 'Watch Out! 2000' competition

All those phonies, they all lied,
The day you left, the day you died.

Mourners sat on the bank of that lake,
The day you died, there was no wake.

Pretending to care about your sad life,
Your lonely days, that cold steel knife.

Your blood, so thin on the icy blue,
They all pretended, they loved you too.

I believe I was your only friend,
The only one sad at your tragic end.

Did slicing your skin make your lips crack a smile?
I want you to be back, just for a little while.

I wish that they had given you their tears,
If not yours, to wash away my fears.

Fears that you died with a heart that was cracked,
That my life has the happiness yours always lacked.
